Linked Parishes

The John Paul II Newman Center located across from Illinois State University in Normal IL is dedicated to serving the student populations at the various colleges in the Bloomington Normal area (ISU, Illinois Wesleyan and Hearland)
Historic St. Patrick's in Bloomington IL has been serving the south west side of the Bloomington Normal Community since 1892.  St. Patrick's church is located at 1209 West Locust Street, Bloomington IL.
Other Local Parishes
St. Patrick Catholic Church of Merna founded was in 1883 to serve the small community of Merna IL. Today their new church can be found on the eastern side of Bloomington at 1001 North Towanda Barnes Rd.
St. Mary's Downs IL was founded in 1909 to serve the community of Downs Illinois.  The parish is currently served by the priests of St. Patrick Catholic Church of Merna. 
Epiphany Parish is located in Normal IL.  Epiphany has an elementary school and can be found at 1000 East College Ave. Normal IL.
In 1852 the German-speaking Catholic community of Bloomington first organized their small community into what would become a Mission in 1867 and eventually, St. Mary’s Parish. Construction of our present church began in 1885. St. Mary’s School first originated in 1867. Classes met in the basement of the original church structure.

The Vatican Museums originated as a group of sculptures collected by Pope Julius II (1503-1513) and placed in what today is the �Cortile Ottagono� within the museum complex. The popes were among the first sovereigns who opened the art collections of their palaces to the public thus promoting knowledge of art history and culture.
